Elder Carl A. Pierce, Sr., is the Senior Pastor of Carter Memorial Church Of God In Christ in Baltimore, MD. A graduate of Tyler Junior College and the University of Houston, he formally accepted his ministerial calling to preach the Gospel in 1984; was introduced and licensed in 1986, and was ordained in 1989.
A native Texan, he relocated to Philadelphia and ultimately to Baltimore due to corporate promotions, and joined Carter Memorial Church under the pastorate of the late Bishop Frank J. Ellis where he served his pastor and the ministry with diligence and commitment. Recognizing his love for God, his commitment to the ministry and church, and his charismatic leadership qualities, Bishop Frank Ellis appointed Elder Pierce to the office of Assistant Pastor, and eventually named and public affirmed him as his successor as pastor of Carter Memorial Church.
Elder Pierce was formally installed pastor of Carter Memorial Church by Bishop David Washington Spann, Sr., Jurisdictional Prelate of Greater Maryland First Jurisdiction, Church Of God In Christ on July 2, 2000 leaving the corporate world for fulltime ministry. Under his leadership, the ministry of Carter has experienced exceptional growth numerically, financially and ministerially. The acquisition of additional property, major church renovations along with the development of the ministry’s Community Development Corporation are among his accomplishments. In addition, various ministries, both outreach and in-reach, have proved beneficial to the success of Pastor Pierce’s tenure as pastor. His charismatic persona, exceptional administrative abilities, and passion for ministry have catapulted the ministry of Carter to that of one of the premier ministries in the Baltimore area.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Pastor Pierce serves as an Administrative Assistant and the Chairman of Auxiliaries In Ministry (AIM) for Greater Maryland First Jurisdiction, Church Of God In Christ. National COGIC positions include Advisory Committee Member of the General Assembly, member of the National Election Commission, and Vice Chairman of the International Auxiliaries In Ministry Convention (AIM), the Annual Summer Convention of the Church of God In Christ, Inc. Civic involvements include Board Member of Poppleton, Inc., and Advisory Board Member of the University of Maryland Bio Tech Park.
Pastor Pierce is an anointed gospel preacher, praise & worship leader and gifted workshop clinician and instructor. In addition, he is a committed churchman, a lover of the Lord and His people. His gifts and talents are many, and he credits them all to the gracious, kind, and wonderful God he serves. He shares his accomplishments, dreams and futuristic vision with his wife, Kandace, daughter, Tiffany, and son, Carl, II.
